Whether sudden or expected, the death of a loved one can leave you with an overwhelming sense of loss and despair with feelings and emotions that can be confusing. With the pain of separation there may be relief that a time of waiting is over. There may be bitterness, worry about the future. Sadly, there may be guilt at words said and things not done.

A funeral marks the close of a human life on earth. It is the opportunity for friends and family to express their grief, to give thanks for the life which has now completed its journey in this world and to commend the person into God’s keeping. We will work with you to provide a service that reflects the personality of your loved one and the circumstances of her/his death. Together we will hold within God’s love our feelings of grief and gratitude, joy and sadness.
If someone you know and love has died, a funeral led by a Church of England minister can be held in church, in a churchyard, by a graveside, or at a crematorium. The minister will be there to support you every step of the way. Usually, the undertaker will contact the church or the vicar and make the arrangements for you. This will be done before fixing the date and time of the service, to ensure availability of the clergy. You have the option to have your loved one either buried or cremated and the undertaker will help you with that decision.
